Bonneville Salt Flats
The famous salt flats on the shores of the Great Salt Lake in Utah are the site of many
land speed records. We were here after the Winter rains had evaporated but before any
of Summer's racing had taken place. The speedway had not quite yet been marked out
though its course is very obvious from streaks in the salt. This is one of the most
amazing landscapes I have ever seen. Ultimately I would rather be up a mountain, but it
was truly extraordinary. I had expected it to be much like any desert, plain or
dried lake bed which I have crossed elsewhere in the World, but there is something quite
exceptional about standing out there. Definitely worth visiting if you have the chance.
